Spencer Camara-Harrison Relief Fund

Donation protected

On December 3rd, a devastating 10- alarm fire rocked the Cambridge community. Unfortunately, one of my best friends, Spencer Camara-Harrison, was caught up in the path of destruction. He has lost everything to this fire as his family's home was completely destroyed. He's truly lucky to be alive. Spencer is one of the kindest and most humble human beings that you will ever meet. Now it's our turn to help him in his time of need. As a college student in his final year of school, your donations will greatly help Spencer get back on his feet and allow him to complete his education. Any amount that you can contribute will go a long way towards helping Spencer replace the items that we all take for granted on a daily basis such as clothes, food, and supplies. Spencer will be set as the beneficiary of this fund and if he wants or needs the donations before he has the ability to set himself up as the beneficiary, I will personally deliver the donations to him by check. My name is Michael Prendeville from Quincy, MA and I went to high school with Spencer.

Here's a description of the event in Spencer's own words:

Yesterday was one of the scariest days of my life. That house you see engulfed in flames on the news was my house, 25 Berkshire st, Cambridge, directly next to the construction site that went up in flames. As I was taking a shower, smoke began to pour into my bathroom. As I got out of the shower, I found my dining room completely engulfed in flames. I had 5 seconds to throw on a pair of jeans and wake up my brother, who was sleeping in the bedroom next to the dining room, before the fire caught onto the rest of my house and we were running through thick fire and thick black smoke. Everything happened so quickly. If I had not gotten out of the shower when I did, woken up my brother when I did and got out in the five seconds I had to react, there is absolutely no doubt that we would have been dead. If this was at night and we were sleeping, I would not be here typing this status. Thank God everyone is alright. As a result, we lost everything we've ever had and now the only thing I own is a single pair of jeans and like many, we are left without a home. But at the end of the day, when something like this happens, it's a wake up call that possessions are nothing in this world. They can be replaced. What really matters though is those that you love, family and friends. You never know what will happen and you must make the most out of life. God bless everyone and I pray for everyone affected. Prayers to those that lost their lives in the Oakland fire yesterday as well. Thank you to everyone has shown support so far.
