Starting off as a little girl my life was full of challenges including gang violence, poverty, and loss of loved ones. Through it all, I always kept my head held high, maintained a humble heart and used school as my outlet.
At 7 years old, I suffered from grief and anger of losing my father to gun violence. This loss led to rage outlashes, a series of counselors, and a grieving camp. Day in and day out, I was forced to endure all of this for more than 6 years. Considering everything I was going through, I never let it affect my academic performance; however, it did affect my behavior.
Throughout middle and high-school, I worked diligently to transform into a better person. My transformation was done through participation and achievement. I have won multiple awards for my academic achievement of maintaining a 3.92 GPA and my constant display of citizenship. I have participated in plenty of activities such as cheer, dance, step, and singing choir. I have participated in clubs and upheld roles such as being the Creative director of Spanish Honors Society, the President Black Student Union, and a member of advisory council. I have even taken steps to begin my career by participating in mock-trials, joining Loyola Marymount's Young Lawyers Program, and interning at the District Attorney’s Office.
With all of this new experience, I eventually decided that the best way to succeed was to use my challenges as my motivation to become something great. Which is why I am choosing to attend a prestigious college to become an entertainment lawyer.
While life has been a struggle for me, my mom and family have supported me physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially.
However, for the first time my family can not fully support me in covering my college tuition. Being accepted to Spelman college was truly a blessing, but it did leave me with a large financial gap.
It is with a humble heart, that I ask you to help me get to my dream college. So that I can later use my college degree to make a positive multi- generational change in this world.
Out of the kindness of my heart, your donations will most definitely be rewarded with a thank you gift.
