FU Brain Tumor

Hello, I am Stephanie, and I am raising funds for my bestie, Michelle, otherwise known as SliceHer, Slice, Slicey, Daisy SliceHer. We've been friends for a decade and have had a lot of laughs and tears over the years.

Slice had her first seizure on December 7, 2014.

As usual, she had a packed schedule, and she was doing all the things, all while pet-sitting for me. Her first seizure was on my couch, and she woke up to a highly bruised tongue and was confused about what had happened. She had another seizure on the following Tuesday, then another. She was admitted to the hospital. She had a biopsy on Tuesday the 23rd when they found a tumor. She had surgery to remove the tumor and chemotherapy treatments after. It was hell, but she made it. She was released on January 16, a full month after being admitted to the Memorial. The tumor was removed completely, and she started radiation on January 26.

Fast forward.

Slice had a seizure on October 15, 2021. The first since the tumor was removed back in 2015. She was taken to the hospital where she had a CT scan. She had a follow-up with her PCP on 10/21 where she was able to get a referral for neuro and an MRI. Her MRI was able to get scheduled for 11/15. After her MRI, her neurosurgeon put in a referral for her to get another test called a Spect test/scan.

**UPDATE SLICE WAS ABLE TO GET HER SCAN**

The day before her scan was supposed to be — she got a call to pre-register and check-in. While speaking to the woman she informed Slice of her financial obligation for this scan. Which came to $900 if she was able to pay it in full — then she could get a 20% discount ($180 off, making the total $720), but she was still unable to afford that — she then asked if she could pay half and then finance the other half. (No discount then) and she still declined.

Slice needs to get this SPECT scan so everyone can get a clearer picture of what could be going on in her head. The white blob in the photo that appears to be “bigger” is the recurrence that has everyone on alert. Everyone says that there is no tumor regrowth — but who knows what could be causing the seizures? Not getting the scan is only causing her additional stress and worry. No one should have to worry and stress over whether they will be ok or not because of finances. Don't get me started on how awful healthcare is. We can all agree on this.

Hence why I started this GoFundMe for her birthday. The goal for this fundraiser will cover what's left from her last MRI scan, the ER visit, her costly bus ride, AND the SPECT scan.

**UPDATE SLICE WAS ABLE TO GET HER SCAN**

Since Slice has gotten her scan, she has been doing Chemo treatments. She is currently in the third round of treatments. Donations for her will be used towards costly Chemo medication that insurance payments may not cover (whether completely or partially), specialist appointments, and travel costs.

Thank you for your time to read, thank you for your donation, and if you are unable to donate, thank you for sharing this fundraiser.

I couldn't imagine a world without my bestie, I love her as much as she loves pizza (probably more), and I hope she can get the answers she needs with this scan.
