Specialist surgery for rescue dog Mango!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Georgi and I’m looking to fund raise enough for Mango to receive vital specialist surgery. Let me tell you more of his story.
Mango originally came from Cyprus. The dog rescue (Paws 4 Homes) there had been notified of abandoned dog with a serious injury to his neck. The locals had said he was roaming with these wounds for around 5 months. It took the team 8 days to trap him. Upon closer inspection Mango was emaciated and had a rope imbedded deeply around his neck. I’m sorry to be descriptive but the flesh was rotting around his neck from top to bottom. You will be able to see this from the pictures attached. He was also found to have a fractured top jaw along with a tooth absess.
As you can imagine the rescuers and vet had never seen an injuries of this magnitude and operated straight away. It took many months for Mango to recover, he was emotionally shut down and in pain.
Mango came to us in 2022 via a foster home in the UK (after waiting 7 months to catch a flight, no one was interested in him for adoption). He took such a long time to fully decompress, I cannot stress how sweet he is but the poor boy was shut down, robotic and couldn't look you in the eye.
Fast forward to 2024 and he has become the most wonderful family dog. He’s gained weight, wags his tail, loves his other furry friends. Mango is truly the perfect companion. However the scar around his neck has become increasingly tight - the equivalent to having an elastic band around your throat. The scar tissue has tacked onto the internal structures and has no movement. The skin here is fragile and constantly rips open and unravels. The vets cannot stitch this area so our only choice is to have the neck cut open and rejoined.
The vets have advised us he requires specialist imaging and a highly experienced vet to attempt this type of surgery. We have been quoted approximately £10,000 to have this done.
By donating to Mangos cause you are giving him a chance to move on from the pain and abuse from his previous life.
We are calling for those who can, to please help us get our rescue dog the help he desperately needs.
