We are a small group of graduate students in VCU's Center for Sport Leadership program. This semester we were given the opportuity to run the Special Olympic's Big Feet Meet for all Henrico County high schools, partnered with Project UNIFY.
This event intends to bring together athletes with intellectual disabilities and their general education classmates to compete in track and field events.
This year our event will take place at Highland Springs High School on April 18th 2017. We love this event because the "Feet Meet" programs are extremely effective at integrating youth with and without intellectual disabilities, promoting physical activity and inspiring leadership.
Our goal for this event is to give our athletes, partners and volunteers the best experience possible. With youe donation, we are planning to get reusable water bottles and custom drawstring bags, so everyone attending can remember the event! The surplus of donations will go directly to Richmond's Special Olympics headquarters, which is a non-profit organization.
