Special Olympics in Memory of James Dignan

Donation protected
Special Olympics Brantford held a special place in Jim Dignan's heart.

For the past five years Jim has been a volunteer for Special Olympics. Not only did he organize track and field events, but as well was a dedicated basketball coach. Commonly named by the athletes as, "the best coach ever", Jim not only developed skill, but also built confidence in each athlete. Jim always focused and built on athletes abilities, rather than disabilities.

In February 2020, Jim was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Even throughout his journey, Jim continued to devote his time to coaching these special athletes. Despite times of feeling tired, Jim put on his Special Olympics hoodie and continued to coach. The time he spent with these athletes allowed him to forget about what was going on beyond the gym doors.

Sadly, Jim passed away on February 25, 2021. He was so committed to this organization and would be proud for any donations made to support these special athletes.

All donations will go to Jim Kruis and Patti Mitchell (Co-Community Coordinators) at Special Olympics Brantford. Thank you in advance for your donations,
Debbie, Jessika, Emily Dignan
