Hello,
My name is Dr Jaime Reed I am a veterinarian in Washington State and the following is the story of Frog the 16 week old frenchie.
Frog came to me from an owner for euthanasia. She presented for failure to thrive. Owner stated she could not keep food down and that this had been going on for months and everything “had been tried”. On exam of this wonderful girl I noted three things. She has severe brachiocephalic syndrome, is emaciated and has a grade three heart murmur. Upon questioning I was told she had been vetted but no proof of that was given so I offered a diagnostic plan to the owner and ultimately was denied. Pet was surrendered and I took on her care, as I often, probably too often do. I ran blood work did radiographs and all the diagnostics currently at my disposal at my hospital. What was ultimately determined was that she needs to see a cardiology specialist and will likely need heart surgery. She will also need soft palate surgery. Given these surgeries she has a chance at a normal life. While I struggle to maintain my own menagerie of dumped/abandoned/special needs dogs (6 of them) on top of the dozens of strays and needy pets that walk through my door daily I had to consider the commitment to this new one. So I took this baby home for a week and fed her properly and nursed her and she began to thrive. She is such a sweet loving soul! I desperately want to give her the best chance so I am reaching out for a little help as my heart has stretched my emotions/time and wallet thin. I am raising money for her upcoming appointments with a specialist veterinarian. I truly believe that given the proper medical care this young sweet little girl can have a happy thriving life. I don’t want to give up on her as she is not giving up on herself! If you can spare a dollar or two it all matters and could make all the difference in little Ms Frog’s life.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jaime Reed
