Jiana Perez Memorial and Family Support Fund

Jiana Perez was a Loving and dedicated wife, a devoted daughter, a caring and Loving mother and grandmother.  She was a loyal friend, loved and respected by all who knew her.  She passed away suddenly from cardiac arrest during a time in life where she was battling stage 4 thyroid cancer and the various attempts at its associated treatment.  Her husband of 34 years and 4 children now struggle to make a path forward without the focal point of our family.

In November of 2019 she felt something wasn't right and sought out medical counsel for what at the time was a minor throat irritation and likely early enough to manage.  Unfortunately,  after being misdiagnosed by three different doctors in the following months - she kept insisting something wasn't right even after a biopsy indicated benign - she was finally told she had cancer on her thyroid in May 29th of 2020.  She held her ground.  Once treatments started, the physical, psychological and emotional impacts did not overtake her resolve but while her spirit was indomitable, her body was human.  Radiation, Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy offered varying degrees of success but also delivered unmitigated and deleterious side effects.  After, many emergency room visits, hospital stays, a tracheostomy, the implementation of a trans abdominal feeding tube (PEG), changes in diet, and treatment attempts by two different hospital cancer programs she passed away rather suddenly on March 3, 2021 when uncontrollable internal bleeding precipitated cardiac arrest.

Sadly, her most recent respite from the constant discomfort and pain, was the joy of knowing that her only daughter is carrying her grandchild, a child that will now only know her through pictures and the memories offered by family and friends.

For her husband she is his eternal Love, the only wife he has ever known.   For her mother, aged 99, she was a determined caretaker who refused to have her mother cared for anywhere other than at home with her. For her children she was our guide, a model of Love and devotion to family.

When we were hungry, she fed us first
When we were cold, she held us close
When we couldn't, she showed us how
When we faltered, she made us right...

Her family simply ask that, if you are so able, you make a contribution to this fund that will assist the family offset the financial impact of medical, funeral and burial costs associated with this tragic loss.

Blessings
