This campaign is set up to support Hibo Wadere, who has been invited to speak at an event on Female Genital Mutilation, hosted by the United Nations Youth Association of Aalborg (UNYA), Denmark.
UNYA are unable to fund her travel and accomodations, and so we have set up this campaign. Estimated Required funds are GPB 650. The goal is set a bit higher, to provide for Food and transportation to/from the airports, in addition to the estimated COSTs of airfare and hotel.

Hello,
I am Hibo Wardere, I am an activist against FGM (female genital mutilation). I have dedicated my life to fighting to end FGM as a survivor of it. I was mutilated when I was six years old and I remember every detail of it. I carry it emotionally, physically and mentally. It affects every aspect of my life and I fight to end it everyday. 200 million women and girls have been mutiliated so far in the world and majority of them are voiceless and caged by the society they live in. We were mutilated in order to preserve our virginity/keep us clean and because of our gender. How do you deal with such trauma in your life? For me personally I find solace in fighting back and using my voice to spread awareness everyday. Every eleven seconds a girl is cut somewhere in the world. I have turned my trauma into a tools it educate others. I educate the youth, doctors, nurses, lawyers etc. I advise policy makers even outside of the UK, I am an activist who will never tire in working towards my goal of ending this cruel violation of human rights. FGM causes many medical problems such as infertility, kidney problems, cysts, HIV and many more. I want to be able to go everywhere in order to give insight into what FGM is as I believe that is my calling and when I get invitations, especially from young people, to come talk about FGM where it is a muted subject and people want to understand it more, such as in the university in Denmark, I feel like it is a must that I go but the only problem is that I am not financially stable enough to fund my own trip and need help with this. This is an issue for humanity that doesn’t have race or religion. It is only violent and cruel and everybody has to know about it and fight it. The most intimate part of our bodies as women and girls is targeted whether it is our vagina or vulva or BREAST IRONING. So I would like to go to Denmark and empower these young People with knowledge so they can be the beacon for the future. After all knowledge is freedom and we all have an unbreakable bond between us, womanhood/humanity.
