Join the Excitement! Help SPCBC Break Records and Support a Worthy Cause!
Get ready for an extraordinary challenge as St Peter’s College Boat Club (SPCBC) aims to shatter the World Record for the Longest Continuous Row on a rowing machine! On January 21st, we're pushing beyond the current 7-day record, setting our sights on an impressive 10-day feat right here at the College. The record we will be beating is that set by Hull University Boat Club in 2019, for the Mixed 20+ Heavyweight category by Concept 2.
But it's not just about breaking records – it's about making a lasting impact. We invite you to be a part of this monumental journey by contributing to our fundraising efforts. Your support will be divided with a 70-30 split, making a significant difference in two crucial areas:
✨ For the Boat Club (70%):
- Elevate coaching standards: Your contribution will help us retain top-notch coaches, creating a stable coaching community at SPCBC. Well-compensated coaches mean long-term commitment, ensuring sustained momentum for our rowing races.
- Empower our rowers: Subsidize costs for training camps and races, enabling students to take a break from academics and nurture their mental well-being. Your donation will foster inclusivity by making these opportunities accessible to students from diverse backgrounds.
✨ For Access and Outreach (30%):
- Support underrepresented talent: Your generosity will contribute to St Peter’s College's Access and Outreach program, actively encouraging students from underrepresented backgrounds to consider applying to Oxford. Our outreach team works tirelessly across the country, making a difference in regions like Enfield, Waltham Forest, Merseyside, and the Isle of Man.
- Foster informed decisions: The College was among the first of Oxford’s colleges to appoint a full-time member of staff to encourage students from underrepresented backgrounds to consider applying to Oxford. The dedicated Access and Outreach Coordinator at SPC ensures that potential applicants of all ages receive the support they need to make informed decisions about their academic future.
If you happen to be in Oxford, come down to St Peter’s College between 21st and 31st January and witness the action firsthand!
We will also be LIVESTREAMING the event for you to see from wherever you are in the world.
Special Bonus :
- For every £5 donated, you get to choose a song for our playlist! Just request a song in the comment section of your donation. Let's make this rowing marathon a musical journey together!
- For every £10 donated, you can request a rower to recite a passage of your choice We're thinking The Bee Movie Script, A Shakespearian Sonnet, A Recent Tutorial Essay... get creative
- For a £20 donation, you can request a rower to wear a funny outfit The options are: banana costume, morph suit, spiderman costume, funky wig, prison jumpsuit...
