SPC M. Stephen Johnson Memorial Scholarship

Donation protected

The SPC M. Stephen “Doc” Johnson Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of Stephen who died by suicide at the age of 22.  At the time, Stephen was serving as a full-time Medic in the Arizona Army National Guard.  His death was in stark contrast to the way that he lived.  The recipients of this scholarship will exemplify the traits that characterized his life.  He loved being a medic, was incredibly resilient and his life was characterized by selfless service to others.  He didn’t do things halfway, he excelled through hard work and a wining attitude at most everything he touched.

In honor of Stephen, the recipients of this scholarship will be either a veteran or active servicemember who is or has served as a medic (any branch).  He or she must be currently continuing their education in a service-related field, such as healthcare, public policy, social work, or mental health.  They must be able to demonstrate duty to others, resilience, and selfless service.

This scholarship fund has been created in partnership with Operation Shockwave a 501c3 non-profit whose sole mission is to prevent veteran suicide.
