Im Nicole the mother of a 14yr old boy and a 8yr old girl and a wife of a man who Drove truck over the road all his life and helps everyone when he can, how he can until recently. We are The Bartels and this is the our story of a husband/fathers health that has been declining rapidly lately.

Like everyone in the world we've always had our share of ups and downs, but this time the times have been continuing going down. My husbands health started on a downward spiral starting end of Dec. 2021 when he ended in the hospital for close to a month with covid. The doctors didn't think he was going to make it and told me to prepare for the WORSE. Against all odds he made it. Once he got out of the hospital his health was never the same. Because it wasnt the same the kids and i always stayed close by.

Only months later he was admitted back in the hospital with pneumonia. We thought when he came home we were about due for some good luck. Unfortunately his health had other plans only a month or 2 later. In April I ended up racing him with my hazards on to the hospital as he sat there having heart failure in the passanger seat right infront of me and my childrens eyes. When he got there they said his heart was only functioning at 10 to 15%. Hes had 2 surgeries so far. On December 15th we are hoping this surgery will do something to help his heart and arteries. So far the latest spiral happened to be his herniated Disc on left and right side. It made it impossible for him to walk considering he can't feel from his hips down due to arteries and veins that are 100% clogged. It has forced him to not work since April.

I have been a stay at home mom mostly for the reasons that between driving our kids to and from school daily and my youngest needing to be picked up from school to attend her occupational therapy appointments 2 days a week for her disorders and brought back to school until school gets out as well as getting my son shortly after. I also drive my husband to and from his appointments for his herniated discs as well as his appointments for his heart. I am by his side whenever I'm not with the kids.

We are going through the process of trying to get help through the county. We also just did the application appointment for SSI for my husband David. Any donations would go towards our rent so we don't loose our home as well as other monthly bills that weve been falling behind on since hes been out of work. The donations would also go towards gas to get my kids back and forth to school so they can continue getting a good education as well as transportaion to get my husband to and from his appointments so he can get better and start feeling like himself again. I know it hasnt been easy for him whatsoever. It would also go towards getting food in our home so the family is guaranteed to keep there strength and health up.
