Support Ashley's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
My name is Kristin Riva and I have organized this fundraiser for my niece Ashley Zygmuntowski who was in a serious car accident in Lowell, Indiana, on 10/5/24. She was a passenger in a car with 2 other teens that was hit by a semi-tractor trailer. Ashley was airlifted from the scene to Christ Advocate Hospital in Chicago with life-threatening injuries.
Initial injuries included a fractured skull, nose, sternum, and pelvis; lacerated spleen and liver; and internal bleeding in her pelvis. Her medical team did not think she was going to survive initially. But soon she was moving her fingers and toes, opening her eyes, and squeezing the doctor’s hand. She has already had an artery coiling procedure to stop her internal bleeding. She is scheduled to have her pelvis stabilized on 10/7/24 and will have to stay off her feet for 6-8 weeks. She has undergone numerous tests and will likely need many more, along with possible future surgeries and physical therapy. It is unknown at this time how long she’ll need to remain in the hospital or how long her road to recovery will take. Her parents, Denise and Jake Zygmuntowski, have not left her side.
Please consider donating any amount to help offset the medical and travel expenses so that Denise and Jake can focus on being with Ashley while she recovers. Thank you.
