Arsenic and Old Lace is Joseph Kesserling's 1939 farce about the Brewsters, a family with a history of mental illness and mayhem. It's classic in the theater world! The seemingly benevolent Brewster sisters, a pair of elderly spinsters, live in a charming old Brooklyn Mansion with their nephew Teddy, who believes he is Teddy Roosevelt. Secretly, the Brewster sisters have been putting lonely old gentlemen out of their misery by poisoning them and burying them in their basement. Just as their nephew Mortimer proposes to Elaine Harper, the girl next door, he discovers his two aunts' murderous habits. That same night, after having disappeared for years, Mortimer's sadistic brother, Jonathan comes home, accompanied by the inept plastic surgeon Dr. Eintsein. Mortimer must stop his aunts and his brother from killing again...and save himself and his fiancée!
