Hi, my name is Suzanne. I moved from Canada to Big Corn Island — a small Nicaraguan owned island in the Caribbean Sea with a population of around 10,000 people. I made the leap of faith two years ago to arrive on this island of paradise!

As an animal lover, I was heartbroken to discover the overwhelming number of stray dogs and cats here. In fact, the stray animal population is estimated to be nearly three times larger than the human population. With no veterinary clinic on the island, there’s an urgent need for spaying, neutering, and vaccinations to prevent disease and reduce the number of suffering, unwanted animals. There are many of our island fur babies that face the sad reality of being unwanted and uncared for. With that being said, there are many that do care and accept the education with open hearts who just simply can't afford the cost, but with an average income of just $200 USD/month, veterinary care is simply out of reach. The locals that love their animals, along with myself and the team of veterinarian doctors, are trying to do the best to help educate the island people so we can sterilize, vaccinate, and fill the animals' bellies with food.

Our mission is to have our upcoming clinic be successful with the help of your generous donations. I have therefore partnered with a veterinary clinic from mainland Nicaragua. They’ve generously agreed to return to Big Corn Island from November 13–15, 2025, to provide low-cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations. Their work has already made a real difference in past visits, and with your help, we can continue to build on that progress.
