My name is Jason Miller and I am permanently disabled from a past work related injury resulting in disc replacement surgery at a young age. Unrelated, I am now currently in the middle of a case where I am unfortunately being sued for possession of my home from someone I trusted. A relationship that ended after 18 years. To make an already extremely stressful and frightening situation worse, I have discovered a medical condition involving my heart. A deep myocardial bridge with ischemia, where stress and elevated blood pressure directly heightens my symptoms and give me painful chest attacks that are excruciating. If both of those problems weren't overwhelming enough, the attorney I hired to help shield me from losing my home and everything I fought for decided to place their own business interests above that of their ethical obligations towards myself and my case. My lawyer decided to hire the opposing counsel without consent, and intended for both sides to represent the case while working at the same firm. This employment exchange started in the middle of settlement discussions, tarnishing and damaging all progress made to protect myself and my home. I also now will likely have to start again with a new attorney and try and pick up the pieces and salvage everything, while further delaying and inevitably adding additional costs. I already spent $15,000 in retainer fees so far with the attorney that initiated the extreme conflict of interest. They also refuse to reimburse any portion and acknowledge their impropriety, so that I may start again with new counsel. I have filed a complaint with the California state bar and even though they may likely discipline their unethical conduct, this process will not help return my losses and damage done to my case. I no longer have enough to hire new representation and start at the beginning. I am trying to fund a retainer for a new attorney with the help of anyone who is sympathetic to this situation. When the very people who you should be able to trust in life and help guard you from pain and loss, end up doing the opposite. A loving partner and a hired legal representative. I am just seeking to remain in my home I purchased independently of the other individual, with the help of a new attorney, while I persue my health concerns and try and move on with my life.
