Help Send Elliott to Spartans DCI

Hello, family and friends and fellow music enthusiasts!

I’m so excited to share that this summer, I’ll be a member of the Spartans Drum & Bugle

Corps. The Spartans are one of the oldest drum corps in the country and are part of a

marching arts activity often called “Marching Music’s Major Leagues”. Following an

audition process, I was selected to be a member as the drum set player. Similar to marching band, drum corps members between the ages of 14-22 spend their summers perfecting a thrilling marching show with up to 165 members, traveling for weeks around the country to perform in front of thousands and compete at the highest level.

Established in 1955, the Spartans are one of the most established drum corps in the country and are based out of Nashua, New Hampshire. While we’ve already begun rehearsing, our tour will begin June 21st and run through August 10th.

Spartans summer 2024 stats:

-we will travel to 10 states for 22 performances, 16 of which are DCI shows.

- We will move over 8,000 miles with a caravan of at least 2 semis, 1 food truck, 6

buses and a chase car. The vehicles average 6 miles to the gallon.

- We will travel to over 25 housing sites.

- Counting camps, there are 68 days in the season with 51 of those on tour.

- I’ll eat around 220 food truck meals (collectively, they will serve around 34,000 meals

and over 6,600 gallons of Gatorade)

- We will have around 500 hours of rehearsal.

- Cost per day to cover everything is $68.

- I will join around 5,000 alumni who have marched with the Spartans during our

69-year history.

The Spartans are the 5th oldest DCI corps in existence with 7 championship titles. The season ends with a series of national competitions in Indianapolis (where we’ll seek to bring home another World Championship title!). As a musician who’s dreamed of competing at this level, I couldn’t be more excited about this summer. This “summer of a lifetime” experience comes with a tuition cost: $4500, which covers my instrument, uniform, and all housing, food, travel, education, and more for the entire seven weeks we’re on the road. I’m writing to ask for your help in making this summer possible. Any amount helps and I’m so grateful for your assistance towards making this dream a reality.
