Spartan Race to Honor Sarah B

Donation protected
If you knew my sister Sarah Babcock or you were inspired by her life, I invite you to join me in giving a hand up to some young Burke's School girls (in San Francisco) in finding their higher selves through the Sarah Babcock Endowment Fund (scholarship). It is a very special award, which is given to a very select few young Burke's School girls at the end of Seventh Grade every year. It is to honor Sarah's memory and to point our attention at developing the value of having creative vision and empowered intelligence in young women. I believe that Sarah was exceptional at a few things and it shows up in some of her art work, writing and photography. She was a professional actress when she was twelve... Its kind of amazing when you see some of the visual art and photos that she created!
I also believe that part of the reason that she was considered exceptional was because she lived with the ability to be free; she was a very free spirit. I think that her talent came from just going for it and not worrying about what anyone would think. She just focused on the outcome and enjoyed her experience in the moment. She was probably just comfortable with being uncomfortable. I think that this is where grace shows up; when we are out of our comfort zone and we do it anyway.
I have found a great way to experience this phenomenon in myself: Athletic obstacle courses. I've been training and competing in these races and team challenges for a few years and I find them to be a fantastic metaphor for our lives. I am racing in the Spartan Sprint in SF on December 1. It's a real kick in the butt! I finished in the top 100 last time and I was totally "smoked" by the end. But its hugely rewarding to complete; and its super fun! I would be honored if you will pledge $10, $20 or $1000 for my competing in this again. My goal is to finish in the top 50 (or better) in the Open competition this time. There are usually around 2,500 racers in all age groups. This is a big goal because some of the racers take this really seriously, as I am (and they are significantly younger than I)...
If this sounds interesting to you; meaning that you would like to join me in the competition, please email me and I will set up a team, where we train and compete together. We can raise funds together and do good while we get into the best physical condition of our lives. We have over four months to get ready; plenty of time.
Sincerely,
Dru Babcock
