Spartacus the Survivor

On November 15 2019 as I slept in my room, deputies were called to our home by one of my two roommates.  One of my roommates had barricaded himself in the house with a firearm, so my other roommate (who had called) went outside to speak to the Deputies. Law enforcement attempted to make contact with my roommate who then came down stairs. Spartacus was by his side barking at the deputies and doing what he believed was protecting our home and someone we considered family.  After being asked repeatedly to not let the the dog out and to come outside to speak with the deputies my roommate opened the door for Spartacus to attack.  The deputy drew his firearm and fired 3 rounds.  Per the vet one bullet struck Spartacus in the mouth.  Spartacus lost a lot of blood and suffers from a fractured jaw, as well as cuts under his tongue. The funds will be utilized to cover all medical bills and all medications. He is currently at NC State Vet School where he is expected to make a recovery. Spartacus has been with me through the toughest of times, serving as my guardian angel. He is the sweetest dog and loves to give kisses. Spartacus has always been really good at sensing when people are scared, anxious, nervous, etc. I imagine he sensed my roommate scared of the deputies and therefor took on a protector role.  Spartacus was actually a rescue that I picked up from NCSU Vet school where he had been hit by a car and vets were not sure he was going to make it. He is strong with a big heart and a fighter, and like the Thracian gladiator that was left in the ring to face his doom, Spartacus doesn't give up. The vet advised the bill would be anywhere from $4,000-$6,000 I understand that money is tight for everyone but any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please understand that I hold no fault at the deputy for protecting himself and ask that this not be used to bad mouth law enforcement thank you in advance.
