My name is Sparrow - I am a non-binary Korean American bookworm living in Seattle. Some may know me as a bookseller on Capitol Hill. I am the quiet, serious one hiding in the books that is a really big softy.
On October 10, 2025, I was in a moped accident in Greenwood. It was disorienting. I remember my neighbors coming out and surrounding me, offering their jackets as pillows, bags of ice, and one of them on the phone calling an ambulance as I lay on the ground.
I was rushed to the ER. My partner en route, surrounded by strangers and in pain, I was out of my depth. After an X-ray and some morphine, I was told three things: that both bones in my left leg were broken, that my pain made sense, and that I would need to have surgery.
Hearing this news was devastating. As a person who walks everywhere, for mental health, for hangouts, and work, this was my worst nightmare. The pain I felt not only hit me physically but mentally and emotionally.
All I could do was cry.
They sedated me, repositioned my floating bones, and put them in a temporary cast till my surgery. It hurt to move.
I won’t be able to work for two or three months and the thought of the bills piling up sent me into a spiral.
I am hoping that donations will help cover the burden of medical bills, rent, food, and other unforeseen expenses while I recover.
I am sending you all my endless gratitude. I understand times are difficult right now for everyone. Anything from donating to sharing would be greatly appreciated. I can’t even begin to express how thankful I am for your help. 감사합니다
