Helping Susan Sparkman

It is rare for one person to be faced with so much diversity at the same time so when my childhood friend Brian confided in me about the plight of his beloved mother, I knew I had to do something to try and help.

Sue Sparkman is a mother, sister, friend, grandmother and animal lover who is currently facing unimaginable misfortunes while fighting an exhausting battle with breast cancer.

Sue, due to uncontrollable circumstances and at 66 years of age, finds herself without a permanent place to live and fighting for her life while also trying to help her eldest son who has been diagnosed with liver, lung and pancreatic cancer at the young age of 47 and given an unfavorable diagnosis.

Sue, has always enjoyed being a caretaker.  She has always been there for her family and friends whenever they needed help. Sue took care of her elderly mother for 14 years and when her sister fell ill, requiring 24 hour care, Sue unselfishly moved in with her, cared for and prolonged her sister’s life for another 6 years until her death only 6 months ago.  Her selflessness for the last 20 years helped her family spend more time with her mom and her sister.

After her sister’s death in July 2014, the house they lived in was sold and Sue suddenly found herself without a home.  She sought refuge with her youngest son Brian and was living with him while trying to forge a new career for herself in the field of dog rescue.  Unfortunately, that was not to be as she suffered a horrible fall down the stairs and shattered her arm, which required three extensive surgeries and left her with only 60% of her strength/mobility in that hand.

A few months later, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and two months after that, her son was diagnosed with cancer.  Sue has gone through the death of her mother, sister, her beloved dog and now the possibility of losing her son in a span of only 3 years.

We are asking for donations to help Sue pay for her mounting medical expenses and helping her recuperate. Any donation will help and make a difference.  We thank you so much for taking the time to read Sue’s story and may God bless you and your family.
