Life Happens, the effects of D.O.G.E. and my fur baby Sparkle
My goal is to reach the empathic and sympathetic responsible Pet Parents, pet lovers and the dedicated, committed hard workers that give their all-in-all while on and off the clock.
My name is April, and I am reaching out to empathetic and sympathetic hearts around the world to help provide medical care for my beloved dog, Sparkle.
I'm a proud responsible Pet Parent who has always taken care of her fur babies, kept up with their annual vet exams and vaccinations. But this year I have not been able to afford Sparkle's annual exam and her vaccinations and now she has fallen ill.
Here's my story and this is my cry; my cry is for my fur baby Sparkle so that I can afford her medical costs and her daily living expenses.
Sparkle is a Chihuahua Terrier mixed with Dotson who has given so many people unconditional love and warmth. Sparkle is 18 years old and hadn't the greatest life in her first five (5) years, as she is a rescue and had been transferred from a few owners before I rescued her in 2013. At that time, she was timid and afraid of everyone. I showed her love and how a loving owner welcomes their fur babies into their home. Sparkle slowly overcame her fear. In 2016 I rescued a cat, and Sparkle had a brother (named Tiger). Sparkle took a liking to Tiger and became surogate momma to the cat. Shortly thereafter in 2017, Sparkle was hit by a car and the doctor wanted to amputate her leg, but I chose first to work with her, and she got back to using her leg again. Sparkle still wants to chase a squirrel or her brother cat when outside, but she still picks up her leg from time to time for fear that it may hurt. She's experiencing harsh breathing, and she can't sleep without a constant cooping cough.
This is the part of my life story that makes it a necessity to reach out and ask for help from the empathic and sympathetic hearts of America and even across the world. I am at lost for words right now. I have dedicated my life, be it local government or federal, to extend the helping hand of compassion, respect, understanding, knowledge and a solution to problems that people may have been facing. I and my fur family were healthy and happy, and I was gainfully employed in the airline industry in America, then in 2020-2021 the Pandemic hit and the airline industry took a hard hit which left me unemployed during Covid and searching for employment.
I then got back on my feet and later took what I thought would be the last government job of my career and it was as of 2023. Working for the Federal Government Security, health benefits and good work/life balance, So I thought, then came THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT "MOVE FAST AND BREAK THINGS" campaign aka D.O.G.E. cuts. the constant threatening emails and unwarranted, unexpected terminations were coming at us like wildfire. The results of which have left me unemployed and taking every Substitute Teaching opportunity that I can.
Of course, the teaching and working with kids is rewarding in itself, the pay is subpar and on an on-call basis. Since so many people are also victims of D.O.G.E cuts, the substitute field is over saturated. This all has left me, living not just paycheck to paycheck, but day to day. My medical has been canceled by the federal government and of course all pay has been halted. As I am now unemployed as a federal employee. My health insurance has now gone from $344.00 a month to $1,390.00. I CAN NOT afford that, so I have to do without medical insurance until I land another full-time job.
Every penny I earn now has to go on rent, utilities, and making sure that Sparkle and her brother cat (Tiger) get their food. This has caused me also a result of cutting back on my own meals so I can look out for my fur babies. Sparkle needs me now more than ever, I've put my pride aside and it is through God's guidance that I have chosen to create the GoFundMe Page for Sparkle because she is not just a dog, she is my 18-year-old baby who's depending on my continuous love and compassionate care for her needs...
With a grateful, humble and thankful heart please send any amount you can to my GoFundMe to help me and my fur babies get through these hard financial times.
May each of you have a safe and happy holiday season.
Sincerely,
April
