Hi, my name is Teagan, and I’m reaching out to share the story of my beautiful horse, Spanner.
Spanner wasn’t just any horse—he was abandoned and left to roam with the brumbies where they were being culled, fending for himself. He was found with two other horses on the side of the highway lost, thin, and forgotten. From the moment I met him, I knew I wanted to give him the life he never got—a life filled with love, safety, and care.
Unfortunately, Spanner suffered a serious injury. He cut his leg badly, and that wound turned out to be worse than anyone expected. He had damaged his tendon. After a lot of thought and tears, I decided to go ahead with surgery in the hopes of saving his leg and giving him a chance at a normal life. We fought hard. But despite the effort, things took a heartbreaking turn. His leg began to swell again, and after rushing him back to the vet, I was told the devastating news that his tendon had completely died.
This has been one of the most emotionally and financially overwhelming experiences of my life. Spanner was meant to be my first riding horse. He’s so sweet-natured, never spooky, and truly one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. It’s crushing to know he may never get the chance to be ridden or run freely again but I still want to give him a life filled with peace, love, and care.
Right now, I need help. Vet bills, medication, ongoing treatment, and his daily care are all adding up quickly. As much as I hate asking, I don’t want to give up on him. I’m trying to do everything I can to do right by Spanner and I’m hoping others might see the heart in his story too.
Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly to Spanner’s veterinary and rehabilitation costs. If you’re unable to donate, a simple share could make all the difference.
Thank you for reading Spanner’s story, and for helping me fight for the life he deserves.
With love,
Teagan & spanner
