Spanish National Champion represents Spain in Australia
Donation protected
Well who'd have thought that our little club in Almeria could produce Spain's Men's NATIONAL SINGLES CHAMPION?!
Graham "Shootsie" Shoots became the Spanish Men's Singles Champion on May 11th, beating the once World Indoor Champion Peter Bonsor in straight sets at Greenlands Bowls Club. The competition was stiff, but he came through victorious, bringing the cup to Almeria for the first time ever.
As Spain's Men's Champion, Shootsie will be expected to travel to Australia, to CluBarham, a 3 hour drive inland from Melbourne, to represent Spain in the World Champion of Champions Tournament against the crème de la crème. Unfortunately, there are so subsidies or funding for this once in a lifetime opportunity. Failure to go would mean Spain not being represented on the World stage so please donate anything you can so he can go and fly the flag for his adopted country!
Shootsie is not a fan of long distance travel - 3 hours is usually his limit - but hopefully we can get him there to bring back some silverware.
Go Shootsie! Go Spain!
