My name is Mrs. Ward and I am a Spanish teacher at an urban public school in Aurora, Colorado. Every year, the students in my Spanish class do the final called the Mercado. In the Mercado, they have to create a tri-fold as their store display, and they have to sell items/ trinkets that they have made.
I work at a high needs school. Many of my students and their families live below the poverty line. It seems that I am asking a lot of them and their families to buy supplies for crafts for their students to sell at the Mercado.
This has been an 8 year long tradition our middle school. These students bring me joy and put a smile on my face every day. I am so thankful for them. I am trying to raise money to buy them the necessary items they need to build their crafts for the annual Spanish Mercado. With this money, I could provide them with a variety options to make their crafts to sell at the Mercado.
This is their final speaking assessment of the year. This project covers may of the major functions of language such as reading, speaking, listening and cultural connections.
