125th Anniv - Spanish American War Monument - AZ
The Sons of Spanish American War Veterans have partnered with the Miami Bullion Plaza Museum and Cultural Center to place the only 125th Anniversary memorial to the Spanish American War in the United States. The memorial shall be dedicated to the memory of Spanish-American War Veterans and the women of Arizona who helped during the nation's conflicts like aiding the soldiers with food at Ft. Whipple, holding benefit parities in Globe for soldiers who were discharged, and sewing the flag of the Rough Riders. After the war, these hardened men settled and returned to Gila County and contributed to the economy not only as regular citizens, but also as miners, ranchers, and lawyers. Many of the men then died in the city and are buried in both Globe City Cemetery and Pinal Cemetery.
Help the Sons of Spanish American War Veterans preserve and perpetuate the culturally diverse history of the area, the heritage of the Copper Corridor, and the natural environment unique to the Globe-Miami area.
