My name is Lori and I oversee the Spade Brigade Garden Club at Gardenhill Elementary School. The garden was built in 2014. The club members are comprised of 4th and 5th grade students who work in teams to grow companion vegetables. The Garden boasts 16 8 x 4 planter boxes, an official monarch way station, a rose garden, and two sitting areas.
A year and a half of distance learning resulted in massive vandalism. Between the vandalism and natural decaying of the boxes the garden needs to be redone. All 16 planter boxes need to be replaced, broken pots, broken gates, and stolen supplies and pickets need to be replaced. It is a large undertaking but my students and I have been working hard during recess, lunch and after school to empty the dirt and remove the broken boxes. We are getting close to the rebuilding phase and need your help.
All money will be used for wood, planting soil, pathway bark, refinishing of benches, replacement of broken pots and bird baths, replacement of stolen bird feeders, bird seed for our many feeder, and more.
There is no labor fee as all the work is completed by my students, my husband, and myself.
A $400 donation will earn a donation plague on one of the boxes.
Every little bit counts. Please help us spread the word. We would like to bring the garden back to its former glory. Thank you for your consideration!
