About this project:

Badwan Space - "A Space of Hope" – Supporting Students and Freelancers in Gaza to Build a Better Future

In Gaza, daily life is full of challenges, and students and freelancers face significant difficulties in continuing their education and working on their projects. After years of war, accessing a suitable workspace, stable electricity, and fast internet has become extremely difficult, while operational costs remain high for young people striving to succeed.

This is why we launched Space of Hope, a campaign aimed at providing real and tangible support for students and freelancers by offering a safe, fully-equipped workspace at reduced or subsidized rates. We want every young person to have the opportunity to focus on their studies, develop their skills, and work on their projects without worrying about daily operational costs.

Campaign Goals:

Empower students and freelancers to continue their education and projects with confidence and security.

Reduce the financial burden on young people striving to build their future after difficult circumstances.

Create an environment that fosters creativity and productivity while providing opportunities for learning and professional growth.

Strengthen community solidarity and encourage supporters to contribute to meaningful change.

My name is Katie Armstrong. I am just a human... bearing witness to people that desperately need help. I don't have a large platform or great means of power, but we will not turn our backs on our brothers and sisters in Palestine.

Backstory: Thanks to the Lex Fridman Podcast, I have been in contact with the Badwan Family for over two years. Wissam Badwan is a 26 year old Software Engineer who's family has had everything taken from them. Their home has been reduced to rubble and they have been displaced over and over again. Wissam is trying to rebuild while also being a source of hope in his community, a lighthouse in the sea of rubble. Wissam and his family have been working tirelessly on "Badwan Space" which they hope will act as a "Space of Hope" - a community workspace where students and freelancers can work toward their education and future.

We truly do need your help in order to keep this project moving forward. We need blocks in this foundation and by contributing, you will forever be a part of it's construction and strength. There is no contribution too small and every gift will not not only mean the world to Wissam and his family but to so many in Gaza City.

I will ensure that all contributions go directly to Wissam for the workspace operating expenses. I will post updates from Wissam and Badwan Space as much as possible.
