Shade and a therapy space for Riley
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Sam and have known Riley and his family since pretty much the day The Growing Space started.
They've been through hell, to be frank, and have always supported me, our TGS Team and the community of families with children with trauma and extraordinary behavioural support needs through peer support and more.
They live in a place that simply doesn't have room to meet their need for storage or for therapy, and housing trust won't support them to have even an inch of shade on their property.
So, I'm hoping our community can help fund a storage container conversion and shade structure so Riley can go outside this summer and have sun protection (his medications mean he can't be in the sun, and his poor temperature regulation also has a huge impact of his ability to self regulate his behaviour.)
We want to get a shipping container in their backyard, have it rigged up with aircon, insulated, and extend out with shade so we can set up water play outside for Riley and his gorgeous siblings.
Can you help?
The Growing Space will match every dollar donated to support Riley, and if we raise more than we need, I'll make sure those funds are used for other families with a disabled child in need, where government are inflexible and frustrating and simply not providing what is needed (and yes, Housing Trust wouldn't support a shelter, and NDIS turned all of this down too - not even a special swing and chair to support this boy I love. #Grrrrrrr)
Thanks also to Matt and Maz at TusNua farm and Charles McGrath OT for their support and hours of unpaid work to support this project.
