Space Coast Consortium Apprenticeship Program
Want to join us in making a difference? We're seeking funding to benefit the Space Coast Consortium Apprenticeship Program (SCCAP). SCCAP is a State of Florida registered apprenticeship program for three occupations: Mechatronics, CNC Machining and Fiber Composite Manufacturing.
Any donation you make will help provide scholarships to assist student apprentices financially while they attend college. Funds will also help with the cost of acquiring expensive advanced manufacturing training equipment and upskilling instructors to be competent to train students to Global Manufacturing Standards.
SCCAP presently offers two-year apprenticeships for Mechatronics technicians and is seeking to expand to the areas of CNC Machining and Fiber Composite Manufacturing due to a shortage of advanced manufacturing technicians on Florida's Space Coast.
SCCAP partners are actively training and mentoring student apprentices who work part-time at the companies while enrolled in college degree programs. Your support will greatly benefit the apprentices and help solidify the future of advanced manufacturing in this region by establishing world-class talent pipelines for existing and future SCCAP companies.
Here is more information about the Space Coast Apprenticeship program:
SpaceTEC Partners Inc. (SPI) has operated as the National Science Foundation's National Center for Aerospace Technical Education since 2002. A national infrastructure for developing curriculum, standard industry practices and credentialing for entry and journey-level technicians engaged in aerospace, aviation and advanced manufacturing, SPI is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit and fiscal agent for the Space Coast Consortium Apprenticeship Program (SCCAP).
SCCAP is an industry-driven apprenticeship program led by local advanced manufacturers in the commercial space, aerospace, aviation and defense industries who are concerned about the availability of future skilled workers necessary to achieve and maintain global competitiveness. SCCAP companies are seeking to grow their own talent by benchmarking proven world-class apprenticeship standards to offset a critical shortfall in available talent.
SCCAP is not only 'earn and learn' but also features industry-recognized credentials, Associate's degrees in either Aerospace Technology or Engineering Technology, as well as a State of Florida registered apprenticeship certificate and a globally-recognized European apprenticeship certificate.
Because this apprenticeship program is industry-led, student apprentices do not qualify for financial aid, there are limited funding sources available for equipment, instructor training and administration, and the burden falls unequally on industry to fund the programs. Economic development councils, educational institutions and state government should pitch in their fair share to ensure technicians are properly trained in advanced manufacturing and supply chain technologies but this is simply not the case.
Your donation will greatly help SCCAP companies build a strong, capable and sustainable workforce, thereby assuring future expansion and bringing prosperity to our region and State.
