Help Send Derrick (Herrmann) to Space!

On July 8, 2025, we lost our beloved friend, partner, and family member, Derrick (also known as Herrmann). His passing has left a deep hole in our hearts, and we want to celebrate him in a way that honors his vibrant, loving, adventurous, and cosmic spirit. One of the items on his bucketlist was to visit Mars in-person!:)

Derrick was magnetic. If you met him, you remembered him. His laughter, sense of adventure, and curiosity were infectious, and he had a way of making everyone feel seen, safe, and able to be themselves. He had a gift for connection, an effortless way of turning a group of strangers into friends. He was passionate about so many different things - plants, cooking, storytelling, tarot, astrology, anime, sci-fi, comics, and much more - all of it colored by his humor, creativity, and unmistakable style.

We’re raising funds to send a portion of Derrick’s remains into space. This felt right. A celestial tribute for someone who was obsessed with space. With your help, we can give Derrick the cosmic send-off he deserves.

Any additional funds raised will go toward the memorial gathering in Seattle on August 8th.
