Rick and Lisa Lord Medical

I am starting this campaign to raise money for my Uncle Ricky and Aunt Lisa to help support them financially through this very trying time in their lives.  As I'm sure many of you know, Aunt Lisa's mom, Mrs. Margaret has been in Hospice and living with them over the past year so that Aunt Lisa could personally take care of her instead of putting her in a nursing home. Mrs. Margaret took care of her in laws for over 40 years, and raised Lisa to always take care of her own, which she does with no complaints and would have it no other way. Until recently, Aunt Lisa and Uncle Rick have been able to juggle both of their full time jobs as well as provide care for her Mom full time. However, Mrs. Maragret fell at the beginning of December, suffering a compound wrist fracture and broken pelvis, complicating their home situation. During this time Uncle Ricky also starting presenting with non specific changes in behavior. For all of you that know Uncle Ricky, or even in passing, know him as a boisterious, energetic, cheerful, always laughing and smiling, happy go lucky person. And I know that many of you have seen how he quickly has become quiet, reserved, even confused at times. This drastic change in personality led to a MRI of his brain Tuesday, December 29th as this was the quickest they could get him in over the holidays.  After having a significantly abnormal brain MRI Tuesday morning, they were advised to go to PRMC's Emergency Room, where he was admitted to the ICU. Yesterday, Wednesday Dec 30th, Uncle Ricky was diagnosed early stage Lung Cancer that has metastasized to the frontal lobe of his brain.  He had a normal CT of his chest in October so this cancer is aggressive and fast growing. From an optimistic standpoint, that fact that it did metastasize to his brain and create these noticable changes in his behavior, has enabled us to get a jump start on things and treat this monster aggressively.  So far he only has two lymph nodes in lung and NO mass. One of these lymph nodes were biopsied yesterday (12/30/15) and they believe it to be adenocarcinoma of the lung, which again has spread to his brain.  Today he is being set up to start radiation treatment to the two spots on brain (adenocarcinomas respond very well to radiation therapy) and is on steroids to reduce the brain swelling that was altering his behavior.  Already within the last two days on steroids, he is starting to act like our old Uncle Ricky, joking, eating like crazy, and ready to go home. We are very hopeful and you all know what a fighter he is . Once they get the swelling on the brain under control, we are looking into traveling across the bridge for more aggressive treatment for adenocarcinoma to give our Uncle Ricky a fighting chance.  

So we are asking for you love, prayers and some financial support.... Uncle Rick and Aunt Lisa have both worked full time their entire lives, but there are some things you never expect and cant plan for. Obviously Uncle Rick is out of work now and Aunt Lisa is taking an UNPAID leave of abscense until atleast March to help the two most important people in her life, her Mom and the Love of her life, basically her whole world.  Any raised money will be used for travel expenses and additional care that Mrs. Margaret will need at times when Aunt Lisa cant be at home with her. 

They would never ask for help, but Raymond and myself are asking for you to help them. Two of the most important people in our lives need your support in whatever way you can offer.  They are the type of people that would drop anything and everything to lend a helping hand to those who need it and they need you right now. If you are unable to donate monitarily, I know Aunt Lisa would really appreciate any help you could offer with her Mom, mainly just sitting with her if she has to be with Uncle Rick.
