Over the past year my husband Danny, who already has a serious health condition (blood cancer), suffered a broken back, which has significantly impacted our financial stability. We have exhausted his FMLA and short-term disability benefits and unfortunately, he lost his job as he is no longer physically able to perform his duties.

With his loss of income, we have depleted both of our savings accounts and taken a loan against my 401K trying to stay afloat. We are now behind on both our rent and car payments. In an effort to reduce our expenses, we have even listed my car for sale to eliminate that bill. However, with only my income supporting our household, we are struggling to meet our financial obligations.

To make matters more challenging, my husband will require surgery and extensive physical therapy, but we are unable to even see the surgeon until April 16th. Until he receives the medical care he needs and can potentially return to work in some capacity, our financial hardship will continue.
