Darwin Hintz Award
Donation protected
Walter J. Hintz taught biology and science for over 65 years with over 20 of those years being at Wickliffe High School in Wickliffe, Ohio. When he left Wickliffe High, he was replaced by a previous student and now teacher, Richard Benz. In order to honor his mentor (Walter) and to award students who wanted to go to college to pursue a career in the life sciences, Benz started the Darwin Hintz Award. The award, which honors two great scientists, provides college scholarship funds to the student who receives it. Walter Hintz passed away on June 29, 2018 and the award now represents his legacy as a teacher, scientist and friend.
