"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived." --
Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.
For 48 years, God bestowed upon us the privilege of Darren Hampton. In the morning hours of Saturday, January 7th, God called Darren. He left us suddenly but was at peace, in commune with God, nature and friends.
Darren blessed us all with kindness, love and joy. He was truly one of God's great gifts to the world. A humble nature prevented him from pondering such things here on earth. Our faith tells us that he continues to watch over us from Heaven.
We mourn mortality. Love is immortal. As kids, Darren and Nancy fell in love. That love endured for 30 years on earth and will live on into eternity. None mourns the loss of Darren more than Nancy. She's left with a broken heart born from a lifetime cut short. She is also left with an eternal love story to help assuage her pain.
We are called to continue living. That is what Darren would have wanted. I believe we are also called to give, in his memory, to keep him alive. The next several months are going to be very difficult for Nancy; emotionally, physically and financially. She is now unexpectedly burdened with many thousands of dollars in bills. We can help. Please consider giving what you can, in the memory of the many ways in which Darren touched your life.
