Sozi cookies has been our go to spot for a week when visiting Taghazout, Morroco. We felt right at home with Sou Kaina and her family.

In the heart of the Taghazout community stands a small café with a big soul — a warm, welcoming place where the aroma of fresh coffee and homemade cookies fills the air. But behind the comforting simplicity of this little shop lies a story of quiet heroism.

During the devastating 2023 earthquake in Morocco, while the world watched in shock, this humble café became a beacon of hope. Every cup of coffee, every cookie sold, was turned into a lifeline — with funds sent directly to small villages in Morocco that were left in ruins. Thanks to the generosity of customers and the unwavering spirit of its owners, the café raised thousands for families in need, helping to rebuild homes, provide food, and offer comfort when there was none.

Today, however, this café — which has given so much — is in need itself. Their coffee machine, the heart of their business, has broken down. With coffee and cookies as their only source of income, their ability to stay open is now at risk.
