Sox’s surgery and rehabilitation fund
Donation protected
Just a quick update Sox has now been fitted with a cast to limit any movement to her fetlock joints and help the stitches stay in place. She is very settled at the vets and it was really lovely to see her today, hopefully she will be home soon. Thank you to everyone who has contributed towards her surgery and aftercare

Just an update on Sox’s surgery: She’s come round from the procedure and anesthesia, she was a bit rough at first but apparently, that’s pretty normal for young horses. The good news is, while she has some damage to her ligament/tendon, it is looking hopefully and we will know more in the future. The surgeon has flushed the wound with saline, surgically debrided it, and stitched it all up. There’s a possibility the wound could reopen, but the vets are keeping a close eye on her while she’s there. She’s all bandaged up, and I’m hoping to visit her tomorrow. Fingers crossed for a smooth recovery from here!
Huge thanks to Simon Joyner and his team at western counties equine hospital, they are incredible. Thank you to each and every one of you who have shown support by giving to the go fund me page, messaged support, and shared her story. It’s really helped me so thank you so much long road ahead but just so grateful she has been able to have the surgery ❤️
Hi, my name is Jasmine, and I am fundraising for my 2-year-old mare, Sox, who has recently suffered a life-threatening injury in a field accident. Sox jumped a hedge and got caught on barbed wire, resulting in a severe wound to her fetlock that goes deep to the bone. The injury is severe , and she urgently needs surgery to give her the best chance of recovery.
Sox is the sweetest, kindest horse with a big heart. She’s full of life and spirit despite the trauma, and I am desperate to get her the help she needs. She deserves a fighting chance to recover and live a full life, but the surgery and treatment she requires are costly. As her owner, I want to do everything I can to give her the best care possible.
I work as a therapeutic radiographer in the NHS, and I’ve already spent over £3,000 on immediate veterinary care, including initial treatments and ongoing medical costs. The vets have told me that Sox’s best chance of survival is surgery. Without it, her chances are only 10%. With the surgery, her chances of recovery increase to 60%.
The funds raised will go directly towards her surgery and the necessary aftercare. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a huge difference in helping save Sox’s life.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story, and for your kindness and generosity during this difficult time.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Jasmine
