Sowing Seeds of Justice - Estelle’s Trip to Guatemala

Donation protected
This trip to Guatemala in October is a great opportunity to build international solidarity and learn about permaculture, sustainability, and Fair Trade coffee production from the Mesoamerican Permaculture Institute (IMAP) and the Campesino Committee of the Highlands (CCDA).

This agriculture-focused delegation to the Maya Kaqchikel community of San Lucas Tolíman is a wonderful follow-up to the 2023 Maritimes tour by IMAP Coordinator, María Inés Cuj who visited Estelle at Thyme for Ewe Farm and met with organic farmers and Mi’kmaq community agriculture leaders during her time with us.

BTS (Breaking The Silence Network) regularly invites Maritimers to learn about the struggles for social, environmental, and economic justice in Guatemala through delegations. Delegations offer a privileged and meaningful opportunity to open yourself up to learn about the efforts of BTS partners and connect their struggles for justice, human rights, and social transformation with those in Canada.

The goal for this agriculture-focused delegation is to bring Indigenous organizers, regenerative farmers, and those who are passionate about food sovereignty, agroecology, and seed saving together to collectively share knowledge and learn from the Maya Kaqchikel.

I feel so privileged to be offered this opportunity to connect with so many different people and open my horizon – to compare our struggles, offer our compassion and find solutions - and sharing about the benefit of regenerative agriculture as a way to combat climate change. This feels like the right thing for me to do on my journey of becoming a better leader. Your support is immensely appreciated!

As I am about to learn a lot about the people and their culture and traditions, I would like to share my knowledge as well with you! Every donation (no matter how big!) will give you access to my online course: ‘’Grow Your Own Food- A Step-by-Step Guide to Gardening in cold climate’’ valued at $137. Please make sure to include your email address to receive the email invite to create your own login and access all of the information.

After my return, there will be opportunities to hear me speak about this voyage, so stay tuned for this coming later this year!
Please make sure to send me an email so that I can send you the invite to the course.
