On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of COVID-19 a global pandemic, reaching more than 118 countries and affecting hundreds of thousands of people.
In response, the SowerLA Ministry is coming together by fundraising for coronavirus affected regions in Los Angeles to provide urgent aid and support. Each of us can do our part against the ongoing health emergency caused by the Covid-19 virus.
People need immediate help. During this crisis, those with the least suffer the most. Some people can’t go to the doctor because they don’t have healthcare. Public schools are closed, some people can’t afford to take off work because they don’t have paid sick leave. Some parents have to choose between paying the rent and feeding their kids. Hundreds of families that lived paycheck by paycheck have lost their jobs. Hunger is on the rise.
You may wonder, like I have, if there’s anything we can do to help. We don’t have to sit idly by waiting for someone else to solve the problem. We can take action. We need to come together and lift up the people that need a helping hand.
The vision is to fundraise $10,000 (more is always a bigger blessing). Food deliveries will be set up for the amount of $200 dollars for 50 families in the community. Families without health insurance and/or access to sick days, people with limited English language proficiency, gig economy workers, people who have lost their jobs, low-income community members, and seniors.
Every dollar donated will go towards these families. Your donation is tax-deductible.
Please join us in doing our little part in our community. Donate $5, $10, or $25 bucks. Every contribution counts. Let your voice be heard and let the people know they are not alone. We are ALL in this together!
