Hello!
Want to help young people achieve their goals and dreams? We are a group of young individuals that have one thing in common, and that’s basketball. We represent the Southwark Pride Basketball Club which is based in South East London. As a team, we have all worked hard to be in the successful position we are currently in, and it’s something that we are very proud of.
As you may already know, the level of gun and knife crime today is extremely high in London. Our club has been supporting young people to stay off the streets and be safe, but most importantly to actually enjoy being a young person living in London. Our basketball team is a very diverse group, including ages 11-20 years old, males and females, and people from all different backgrounds. However, females are such an underrepresented group regarding sport, and as a group of young females we are striving for the absolute best, no matter what challenges we face on our journey. Although we are very active individuals promoting a healthy lifestyle, when we are off the court we focus on our education allowing us to achieve outstanding grades and reach for our other ambitions with the help and support of the coaches and teammates.
Southwark Pride has won 13 championships thus far, and are on the pathway to more success. On the 6th May 2018, Southwark Pride won the U18s Women National Final for the third year in a row. This was a great achievement for us as a team and also for our club as no club has ever won it for three years running. The passion to succeed grew even stronger following this championship, and we look to achieve more in following seasons.
In previous years, 25 young boys and girls from our club were able to use basketball as a platform to gain full scholarships to the United States, securing their education free of charge through their dedication and hard work to school and basketball. Many of us hope and believe we can achieve such greatness and possibly pursue basketball professionally later on in life.
Hosting a basketball club is quite costly, and we need all the help we can get so we are kindly asking if you will be willing to donate anything to help us have a fantastic season.
Thank you!
