Southside & McLaughlin Cheer Fund

My name is Kendra Guay, high school English teacher and cheerleading coach in the Manchester School District, and I need your help with bringing cheerleading back to Southside Middle School and McLaughlin Middle School.
The last time Southside and McLaughlin had cheerleading teams was back in 2003, when I myself was a middle school cheerleader. Since then, the programs have been cut and the kids have been begging for a chance to cheer for their schools. While we are lucky enough to begin cheerleading under the 21st Century program, we simply don't have the funding or the support of the district to supply these kids with everything they will need to get started.
I am looking to raise $3000+ by mid December to buy both schools new uniforms and poms so they can begin cheering on their basketball teams ASAP . The uniforms and poms will be distributed to the athletes and returned to the school at the end of each season, so they may be reused for years to come.
As many of you know, Manchester has pulled most of it's athletic opportunities out of the middle schools and these kids have been left with very few options to ocupy their talents and their time. Additionally, most of our families can't afford to send their kids to all-star or rec. teams that are "pay-to-play", making it virtually impossible to channel their kids' energy into something positive and character building. By donating and/or sharing this page, you will be giving kids from any kind of home the opportunity to participate in a sport. We simply cannot do it without you!!
I truly believe that by creating new opportunities for our students, we will be helping them build the foundation they need to become independent, well-rounded citizens of the world. These kids are our future, and we need to invest the time and energy in them that they deserve so they can prosper. It would mean the world to me, and especially to them, if you made a small contribution to this effort. Every dollar counts!
