Southmead NICU & Musgrove SNICU
Hi my name is Darren Greenslade
My son Dexter spent 99 days in NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit) he spent 6 weeks in Southmead and 9 weeks in SNICU Musgrove. I am going to cycle 99 miles to raise as much money as I can for both units.
Dexter was born at 24weeks weighing 1lb 9oz (735g) and was admitted to NICU. Dexter received constant care from the whole team at Southmead and once transfer from the whole team at SNICU Musgrove. Dexter had numerous Iv lines, blood transfusions, blood tests and blood gases, X-rays, feeding tubes and ventilators the list goes on.
The support we got from both units was amazing, everyone had time to explain and answer any questions and supporting us along the way. Their knowledge and treatment was unbelievable.
I would like to raise as much money as I can for both units, without their life saving support our little boy wouldn’t be here.
I will be cycling the Kennet and Avon canal from Reading to Bath and the old railway line from Bath to Bristol on the 5th October 2024.
