Hi y'all. I'm Lucia, a southern Transfemme and reconnecting Maya individual planning to have Gender Affirming Top Surgery. Feeling comfortable in your own body should come as easy as breathing; however, for me, there are days when I have to avoid looking in the mirror. With this top surgery, I know I will feel more confident to be present with others in building relationships and community by being more confident in myself.

Since starting the insurance approval process over two years ago, I have been denied, approved, scheduled, and then had that coverage approval blocked by the oversteps of administrators in the Louisiana Medicaid system. I have since had to seek healthcare elsewhere in a less hostile political environment so that I could access this necessary healthcare.
