Help South Sound Titans Alternative Baseball Club

Hi, My name is Stacey Gifford. I am a mother of a special needs 21 yr old. I have coached Special Olympics basketball & soccer since my son was 8. Now that he is older, sports are limited for him and for so many other athletes with disabilities. He had a chance to play Alternative Baseball® before COVID and he loved it! Unfortunately ABO was cancelled in our area.

I know that there are other kids and adults just like my son in the South Sound Area that would love to play baseball, build friendships, feel accepted and learn life lessons that will be with them forever. I started this baseball club (South Sound Titans Alternative Baseball Club) to give athletes 15 and over with special needs the opportunity to be accepted for who they are , to be encouraged to be the best they can be, feel good about their accomplishments and build a lifetime of friendships.
ABO provides an authentic baseball experience for teens and adults (ages 15+) with autism and other disabilities for physical and social skills enrichment in life on and off the baseball diamond. In Alternative Baseball, games are played using professional league rules. Check out the video at the bottom to see what ABO it all about!

South Sound Titans ABO is located in North Pierce County and South King County of Washington State. We have players from Bonney Lake, Buckley, Covington, Duvall, Enumclaw, Federal Way, Fife, Gig Harbor, Lake Tapps, Lakewood, Orting, Puyallup, Sumner and Tacoma.

There a currently no other ABO teams in our area. The closest teams are in Medford, OR or Boise, ID. My goal is to have at least enough players and volunteers to have two teams by Spring 2022. Also, we are hoping to play some celebrity games in the area.

We are now a 501c3 non-profit, donations are tax deductible. Please consider helping me raise funds for these special athletes. I would love to get them uniforms and some equipment; such as helmets, balls, bats, bases and other baseball equipment.

My sincerest, THANK YOU!
Stacey Gifford

In 2016, The idea of Alternative Baseball® originated in Dallas, Georgia by Taylor Duncan, a young man on the autism spectrum. Taylor always wanted to play traditional sports growing up, but was often denied opportunities due to the commonly low perception of what one with autism can and cannot accomplish. With his positive experiences in baseball and slow-pitch softball across the Southeast region, Taylor decided it was time to give those opportunities to other teens and adults (ages 15+) just like him to play in a traditional baseball setting free of judgment; Instead, focusing on physical and social skills growth through the hands-on authentic experience in all practices and games. Some of the players have since taken their skills to apply into other areas in life off the baseball diamond, including employment.
