Hi my name is Calvin and I am the proud owner of Cals Braai Box (food trailer).

Like every South African immigrating to another country to start a new venture I have faced a fair few bumps along the road, however determination pushed me to keep striving towards my dreams and so after moving to the UK, I was excited to start my own small business. There is something different about South Africans and the need to always stand up, dust off all the stress, pressure to survive and keep smiling knowing that tomorrow the sun will be shining and we can get closer to that cold beer on the weekend while cooking some wors over the fire.

I wanted to share the joy with the UK through my exciting new catering business idea, but unfortunately after a few fantastic days of making hungry brits and South Africans peeps very happy , the speed bumps we hit were a little too big for us to get over. Our braai box trailer was doing extremely well spreading the braai vibes until our main source of power (our generator) gave up. We have tried to source a new one but unfortunately the size of our generator is expensive. I have gone down the route of trying to hire a generator with no luck.

We have events booked for June and July that need an up front pitch fee. This is the reason why we are asking for a large sum in donations. It has been a very difficult decision to table our new project, but we have hope that we will be able to save enough money to continue down the road of braai flavour.

We hope to raise enough money to start at each end of the UK sizzling off burgers and wors rolls for everyone who want a little taste of SA. In the small amount of time we have been serving food to the public, the positive feedback and support has been incredible. We would be devastated for something that brought people so much joy and desire to experience South African culture to be cut short when it had so much positive potential. Which is why we are asking for the small donations to bring us up and over this speed bump.
