Dear Friends and Family,
As you all know I am now a junior at Loyola Marymount university where I am also in my third year of playing softball. Sports are my passion and were always something that I looked forward to as a child as an escape, for joy, and for many of the life skills that I have today. If it wasn't for my families and friends support I wouldn't be where I am today with all of the amazing experiences that I have. Not everybody is as fortunate as I was to play this wonderful sport; sports can teach kids life skills that can't be learned anywhere else, and I want to be able to provide kids who have never had that experience before with that opportunity. This summer I was selected to be a part of an incredible opportunity to intern in Cape Town, South Africa. For three weeks I will be immersing myself in the local culture while also giving back to the youth. I will be providing sports clinics for the youth in the local communities, teaching them skills and lessons that they don't usually get. That feeling of being a part of something, part of a team, is something that every kid should be able to feel, and I want to be able to give that feeling. Not only is this is a once in a life time experience for me but it also is for them and I hope that you can all help support me through this journey.
