The Cinema Project, an initiative by the Masharawi Fund in Gaza, is the natural evolution of more than three years of dedicated film production work. It reinforces the institution’s commitment to supporting and developing Palestinian cinema by broadening its scope: beyond production, the project seeks to provide moments of hope and joy for children, while strengthening technical resources and fostering a sustainable educational environment for the youth.
Children’s Cinema in Gaza and the mobile Cinema « little wings »
In November 2025, the Masharawi Foundation launched the first edition of the Gaza Children’s Film Festival. After a month filled with film screenings, animated films, and workshops, and after witnessing life return to the children’s faces, we realized that we could not stop creating moments of joy, healing, and psychological support. The Foundation therefore launched a mobile cinema initiative, Little Wings Cinema, which continues to screen films every day throughout 2026, travelling between the cities of Gaza and displacement camps. It gives children the opportunity to rediscover the joy of watching films and to reconnect with a part of the innocence that the war has targeted. Today, the Foundation is preparing to launch the second edition of the festival, while continuing the mobile cinema screenings throughout 2027.
Gaza Film School
In the context of the emergency faced by the Gaza Strip, where survival and daily challenges intersect with the vital need for expression and the preservation of identity, cinema emerges as an artistic and cultural tool capable of preserving collective memory and opening windows to the future amidst confinement and attempts at erasure.
The Gaza Film School meets this need as an educational and cultural initiative aimed at empowering a new generation of young Palestinians to become filmmakers, possessing their audiovisual tools and expressing their reality with awareness and freedom, far from stereotypes or imposed narratives. The school does not present itself as a traditional educational institution, but as a living and renewed space for the production of audiovisual knowledge, a laboratory open to experimentation and creativity, where learning meets practice, and where cinematic language is formed from everyday experience itself.
It also aspires to be an interactive platform connecting Gaza to the world through sound, image, and human stories, redefining Palestinian identity in all its diversity and depth, and breaking stereotypes through works that emanate from within and address the world with a contemporary cinematic language. It is a space of dreams and action, where cinema amplifies its narrative tools into acts of existence, resistance, and support for the reconstruction of the future.
