Sound Shack Rescue

Tax deductible

Thank you for taking the time to stop in and check out our fundraiser! We know times are tough for so many so it just goes to  show how supportive our community is that you're here! Even if you aren't able to donate, simply reading and sharing our story with others is a huge help. So, again, thank you so very much.

You may remember, in the summer of 2020 there was an incident that ultimately led to a large portion of our Sound Shack being burned. The mystery of the fire was never solved.

We started a fundraiser then, but unfortunately our neighboring communities were caught in devastating wildfires. We didn't feel right asking for funding at that time because people are more important than our Sound Shack.

Some time has passed, and while things are still not back to normal for so many, we've decided to start the process of rebuilding our beloved Shack with the hopes that we can use it for our 2021 Scandinavian Festival. Fingers crossed!

Lumber prices are extremely high at this time so we cannot really afford to have it completely rebuilt. Our volunteers have been working hard each weekend since April 2021 to deconstruct, salvage, and rebuild. $10,000 is a huge number, how could we possibly need that much for such a small building?! Because it isn't just any ol' shack.

During our four day Festival this is our main stage's hub. We use this space for more than just storage. It houses much of what makes us who we are - our vintage folk music is run from here as well as lighting for our evening performances like the Pageant and, of course, COMMUNITY DANCE!

But it's used for many other things outside of Festival, too like Children's Dance practice, summer movie nights, and rental events.

So when rebuilding our Sound Shack we want to make sure to do it right so it can function properly for our needs:

Updated electrical that can support our sound and lighting needs.
Sturdy foundation.
Good walls (and maybe even insulation) to keep the summer heat away from our equipment and people.
And possibly doors and actual windows instead of cut out walls?! We know, that's a crazy thought.

To make sure we are using every penny to it's fullest, our incredible team of board and community members have volunteered to do as much of the work as we can, for free. This ensures as little money as possible goes to labor costs. We are fortunate not only to have experienced professionals and hard workers, but also that they have donated their time and expertise to this project.

So, we are hoping that you would also partner with us to fund this project.

At this time, the gifts for donations are no longer available. If you made a donation prior to June 22, 2021 then we will be in contact with you shortly to make sure you receive your gift(s).

If you live within 25 miles of Junction City we ask that you pick your gifts up in Junction City, OR or Eugene, OR. We will be available most Sundays in June for pick up of your gifts in Junction City or you may wait to get them at the Windmill during our Festival. If you are outside the 25 mile radius, and within the continental U.S. we will offer free shipping. If none of these options work for you, please message us before donating and we will do our best to come up with a solution. We want to make sure you receive your gifts in a convenient way but we also want to ensure as much of your donations go towards the project as possible. The average shipping cost is around $5.

Again, donations will always be accepted for this fundraiser as long as it is live on GoFundMe, but rewards may not be available after June 22th, 2021. Please check our updates for further information. Donations over our goal will go to other infrastructure needs.

So, will you help answer our SOS - Save Our Shack?  Any support - not just monetary, will be of huge help. If you could simply share this fundraiser with your friends and family, we would be deeply grateful.
