Sound of Hope, part of the Zanzibar Outreach Program (ZOP), is an inspiring initiative committed to empowering children and communities across Zanzibar with the gift of hearing and communication. Founded by Zanzibaris in 2006, ZOP delivers critical services in health, education, clean water, and community welfare—all powered by collaboration and compassion.
In my own search to make a difference, I came across ZOP and travelled to Zanzibar to volunteer with them. What I experienced there changed me. I saw children living with hearing loss, full of joy and curiosity, but also facing challenges most of us can hardly imagine. I was deeply moved by the dedication of the local teams and the hope they were creating, yet it was clear there was always more to be done: more children to reach, more dreams to nurture, more futures to protect.
I knew I wanted to stay involved, even after leaving the island. That’s why I founded Sound of Hope, a way to continue supporting these children from anywhere in the world.
What they need most isn’t charity, but opportunity — the chance to learn, to connect, and to be included in a world that often overlooks them. Like any child, they dream of belonging, but are held back simply because the resources they need aren’t always available.
Through Sound of Hope, we support these children with education, healthcare, and social inclusion. It’s not just about hearing aids or school supplies. It’s about giving them the chance to thrive, to belong, and to believe their future matters.
Here’s how your support can make an impact:
- £10 – A month of school meals for one child
- £25 – Monthly transport to school for one child
- £40 – Monthly educational supplies & classroom needs
- £60 – Comprehensive monthly care for one child
Every contribution sends a message of hope: You are seen. You are valued. You are not alone. And every donation goes directly to the kids — giving them hearing aids, access to education, and the hope of a brighter future
If you’re interested in sponsoring a specific child and seeing the direct impact your support has, please reach out.
