Hi! We're the crew of the documentary Sound Effect: The Science Behind White Noise. Welcome to our fundraising page!

We are students at CSU Northridge, right in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, studying the often underappreciated art of documentary filmmaking. For our thesis class CTVA 441, we have decided to come together to explore a topic that a lot of people have heard of, but don't know much about. White noise.

Sound Effect is a 25-35 minute documentary that aims to answer the question: How does a sudden influx or lack of white noise affect us?

What is white noise? White noise is a combination of several frequencies projected at the same intensity. It is commonly used to aid sleep, help with tinnitus, and ease anxiety. We want to explore what happens when people are exposed to it and how it interacts with peoples' daily routines.

This documentary is a 25-35 minute story about two specific individuals and their relationship with white noise. We will also take into account the science behind white noise with in-depth interviews with experts in the San Fernando Valley.

Who is part of this? Sound Effect's crew consists of 7 amazing, hardworking members, all of whom have specialized in different programs at CSUN's film department to combine our knowledge for a single product.

Our goal is to raise at least $3,500 dollars to make this documentary as amazing as we know it can be.

What will my money go towards? Excellent question! No need to be worried, all donations will go to the following causes to help our crew succeed in bringing you this story!

Camera & Lighting: Camera rental, Lens kit rental, Lighting kits, etc.

Sound: Boom microphones, Lav mics, etc.

Post Production: Hard drives, software etc.

Locations: Permits, insurance, gas/transportation, liaison fee, etc.

Catering and Craft Services: Meals, snacks, drinks, etc.

COVID-19 Safety: PPE for crew and cast, sanitizing/disinfecting equipment, masks, face shields, etc.
